Got a quote through for extending the warranty on my 57 plated 1200GSA - £362 for another year. :( Painful, but....

That's including BMW Emergency Service and nil £ excess. If I took a £100 excess, it drops to £310 but I think if you are convinced enough to take the extension out, why would you want to have an excess.:nenau

To my mind and considering the bikes history (well over £1000 worth of warranty work two years running) I think it's a no-brainer.:thumb2

Anyone disagree?

Warranty

Just taken out extended warranty on my 2007 GS - £310.00 for year inclusive as I opted for £100.00 excess. 12,000 mile service/annual in three weeks time.

It's a no-brainer. Forget the excess something will go wrong.

06 GS 33000miles second warranty extension over £2000 worth of warranty work done since.
Tours of Morocco Ireland Europe Norway so no need to buy recovery.
Definate "No Brainer"

I had my 05 3 and 4 years done with Warranty Works it was £350 with out the breakdown, i had to get into a dealer and payupfront then claim back..
The new bike will get the BM ext warranty i think..

Just renewed the 54 plate 1200 I bought a few months ago... just before I paid for a further year the gearbox oil seal needed replacing.. would have cost around £400 had the previous owner not paid up :thumb

Claimed twice this year ( had to pay first £100 ),so yes is worth it.The bike is 4 years old and next year I shall buy the warranty from BM again , but this time will buy the one with no excesses.
What is interesting BM replaced corroded items ( I paid for labour) , corrosion is not covered on a extended policy.

I've said this before ......

Why is it only us BMW owners that worry about extended warranty?

Never even thought about it with a Hondasakiyamauki .....

I find it quite dissapointing ... :(

I had a Triumph before and when the warranty ran out it didn't cost me a thought to extend it ..

Warranty claims in 3 years?
loose nut on the gearchange lever after 2 weeks of ownership ... nothing else

if this turns into a reputation it will be a bastard to shift ...

I , for one, will not put up with a money pit past warranty ...

Because I've never done 40'000 miles on a jap bike but saying that I have never had a jap bike break down on me and I've had about 20 of them.

4 BMs in the last four years, lets just say I know the numer of BMW breakdown services of the top of my head 0800 777111 maybe thats why.

If you want to enjoy your 12GS without worry, it's a no brainer. I'll be paying up in Nov
when mines due.

It's such a no-brainer with the Jap manufacturers that I don't even know if they even offer extended warranty.

There would be so little take up of extended warranty that I presume that's why it's not offered.

I've extended my warranty again for another year so it's cost me £724 in extended warranty over the last 2 years and so far only had a dip beam bulb blow which of course isn't covered :augie

Back in March my supplying dealer called me up to ask if I would be interested in an 09 GSA which no doubt would have cost me the thick end of £5000 to change:blast but for only £362 I get 12 months cover, with european assistance and the knowledge that I don't have to piss around going through the running in proceedure again and paying for another 600 mile service :aidan

I'm not going to p/ex my bike for a while yet so I look upon it as a bit of piece of mind :thumb

No warranty since 2006
