Here is my solution for mounting external GPS-antenna on my 1200. The antenna is Garmin GA25 mcx which have a strong magnet.

1. take the lid of the jar

2. glue the lid on the brakefluidlid.

3. pop the antenna on. Voila, your done!

Get this man on Blue Peter with a bit of sticky back plastic and a couple of yoghurt pots :D

I've now got to go and buy a jar of Rajah Kashmiri masala paste,
Would a jar of Pataks work just as well, i'll have to ask Pan european for advice .

You're on the right track, I've got a gpsw ext ant for the car, and it gets a much stronger set of sats when placed on a big sheet of metal than say a wooden table. Not sure of the ideal size but they do need a ground plane to work properly. Thought it was bust originally, but stuck it on top of the barbie in the garden and it shot up to 100% on all visible sats.

Google suggests finding some piece of metal about 70mm square. eg.e this lot test them on a similar ground plane. http://www.gilsson.com/high_performance_gps.htm

:D :D :D I dunno, I eat at McDonald's most of the time, and none of the food packaging there is ferrous metal. So - I just use Velcro to hold my antenna in place. Put a tiny patch of sticky Velcro on the brake fluid reservoir, and another patch on the bottom of the antenna.

dont thnk thats a good idea on the brake reservior the magnet will BRAKE down the molecules in the brake fluid
