Extracting a rounded off torx bolt

Anyone have any advice for the following situ??

I am trying to remove the exhast y-piece but the torx bolt socket on the RHS of the sump mount is rounded off. What is the best way to try to remove it?

I was going to drill it but I think that it is too long.

I have had exactly the same experience 3 days ago...but on the LHS Torx bolt...nasty piece of work and a poor fit for the Torx tool.

Will follow the useful advice on 'drilling/electric screw drivering' out!

Use an electric screwdriver these can be reversed.

You'll need a left hand drill bit, they do exist

Or, if you have a dremel, cut a slot across the head and get a flat blade screwdriver in there.

Wot he said or try tapping in a small socket set type Alan key of a similar size & use ratchet.

If you can get to it a ring of centre dots around the hole can help tighten the whole up a little, also doing this it tend to break any mechanical lock the bolt head has on its surroundings
