Thanks Psycho, you've made me feel a lot better. I thought I was bad on the farkle & bling front but your list is mighty impressive. As a matter of interest, I thought I'd take a moment to add up the 'extras' that I'd put on my '05 GS.
So over and above the standard bike there's:

Factory Fitted options:
Heated Grips
ABS
Alarm
White Indicator Lens
Chrome Exhaust

BMW Parts:
Pannier Rails
Top Box Mount
Top Box
Top Box Back Rest
Panniers
Pannier & Top Box Bags
GSA Beak
GSA Screen
GSA Winglets
GSA Crossbar Pad

Other Stuff:
Fender Extender
M-Tec Rear Huger
Hornig Frame Plugs, Oil Filler Cap & Top Yoke Cap
Handlebar Brace (Boxer Design)
H&B Engine Bars
H&B Tank Protectors
PIAA 510 lamp set
Wunderlich Oil Cooler Grill
Wunderlich Rear Mudguard Extender
Wunderlich Steering Stop
Wunderlich Rear Brakeswitch cover
Wunderlich Side Stand Plate
Akropovic Titanium Can

And the grand total for this little lot. Feck  A shade over £4000.00!!
Jesus. Nobody tell the wife please or I'll get :mcgun. I've managed to get surreptitious ordering down to a fine art - having stuff delivered to work, sneaking it into the garage etc. Much of it has gone unnoticed once fitted to the bike. I thought I'd been well and truly rumbled the day she spotted a 'sticker' on the exhaust. The tasteful one with a scorpion on it  That's right dear, it's just a sticker! ;)
Of course all of the above is absolutely essential :D
Anyway - I blame you lot for my farkle habit - and that Nippy Norman fella. I was quite happy with my standard(ish) GS before I found this site.
Ah - bollocks to it. It's only money. You can't take it with you and I love the bike.
Now where did I put that Touratech catalogue :bounce1

NEED??? What for? Are you doing a Ewan and Charlie nippin out to Tesco for some burgers?

But hey, go for it, those big super market kerbs are a bind and I guess you look the part :D

If you're both off to Morocco for six months please forgive me :mmmm ;)

Eric,
I bet your missus curses the day I let you sit on my 1200. If she knew how you were planning to sell your RG500 and splash out on a GS, she'd have killed me.

Stop spending FFS and just ride the thing.:D

but what a mistake selling the RG miss that old bike
ah hindsight will just have to get the gs engine tuned by stan stevans:thumb2

Strikes me some peeps may be closet Harley owners the way they keep on modifying/personalising their bikes. I prefer to ride my bikes. Before anyone has a go, yes I also have a Harley in the garage.

Eric,
I can highly recommend Ireland:

1) Guinness on draft in every pub you visit.
2) The Craic. Anyone and everyone seems to make time to chat and be happy.
3) The roads........GS heaven, especially towards the South Coast and West (Dingle Peninsula and 'Ring of Kerry').
4) The Drivers - Highly considerate, most move over to let bikes past.

Didn't use B&B's as I took my tent, plus stayed at a mates Mums place in Co. Cork. If you get lucky with the weather, the place is fantastic, but be prepared for rain just in case.

Intercom with Bike to Bike, Rider to Pillion, Satnav and Mp3: Invaluable IMHO. Just teach her to shut up and enjoy the view.;)

Think of the RG as death on 2 wheels mate, crazy power delivery in a chassis that can't handle it.

As for tuning the GS with a remus can and headers, just a K&N and a fuelling remap and you'll be there. If only power commander made an R1200 version.....one day maybe ??

EDIT: Why not fit an Autocom, but leave the microphone out of her lid ??

wow never looked at that part of the book whole sections of new must have's------------------ mmm-------- xmas again including knives
