F 650 GS very wobbly feel after 10K service

Hi

I had my first ever puncture recently, in the rear wheel of my 12GS. It felt exactly as you describe.

I jumped off a couple of times and checked out the front wheel, tyre, forks etc trying to work out what the problem was. Of course the rear tyre is stiff enough that it doesn't deform without the rider on.

Eventually worked it out. :blast Tyre plugged and everything great again.

Hi folks,

glad to inform you that my dealer solved the problem. Turned out that some plastic part under the beak above the front wheel was a bit out of alignment and through the turning action of the front wheel, touched something else.

They noticed this after checking the ballhead bearing, when they swung the front wheel from left to right and noticed that it didn't freely move from stop to stop, but had some "friction" at some point.

The steering now is actually better than before. I have the impression that the bike now responds a lot quicker to my steering inputs and that my inputs get a much bigger response from the bike than before (must have been dampened al along, because the last time I dropped the bike was some 7000km ago!).

So, this whole thread seems to be nothing more than the result of my dropping the bike :blast. Go figure!

A BIG thanks though, to all who gave valuable input.

Good news indeed...glad that all ok now...but the bike did handle correctly before you dropped it off for service...so perhaps it is not your fault and it was something that happened during the service or the testride afterwards?

Anyway...happy riding.

Could well be the case joff. Anyhow, it got fixed at no cost, so not much use in pondering over it any longer.

Happy riding? You bet! I bought a pair of winter gloves today so that I can keep on riding during the upcoming winter (my courage permitting, that is:o).
