F450GS-Wankpanzerlicht !

Seems like the ERC is a tad shite
(Click ‘watch on YouTube’)

To me it seems this fellow set out with a previous agenda towards this bike. Many of his critiques could be summed up to the fact that this bike is intended to be more adept in the dirt. And not just riding thru but serious dirt riding activity. The high stall torque converter is a performance thing, performance in the dirt, I would bet.
I think this bike will make a decent town bike but one does have to compensate for the influence of the dirt oriented features. Personally I would rather have a big single made in europe/us for that.
One should check out the bike for themselves imo. These tube vids are getting out of hand, imo no one to publish, you just put out whatever "blank" you want ....

Yet MCN have just tested the 450 GS against four similar bikes and slated its dirt performance, giving the CF MOTO 450 MT the overall win .

OK
So having? been interested in the BMW450GS -- primarily because of its "low" weight , probable road going ability and hopefully decent build quality--- but ignoring the price -- the reviews seem to suggest that not having an ERC version would be a good thing.

So the instantly recognisible BMW colour scheme gets stroked out - call me shallow but that only with ERC colour scheme does look smart - pity the ERC is rubbish for a road bike.

There has not been much (any?) comment about the seat height -- that I have seen -- reference short legged people. Does that suggest the Specn seat height is actually high ??

The comments ref BMW dealerships apparantly not being to bothered if you want to buy a 450GS -- don't engender enthusiasm to go and beg a test ride.

Maybe I will give it another year or two before I jump to a low weight, low horses, still feels quick, --- m'bike.

Then were doomed .....
But once again I think it is possible to go out and find a review that supports one's own opinion fairly easy ....
I also should have mentioned the possibility of starting out in second gear when road riding this bike, being obviously geared for dirt or even trail riding. But I don't have the bike, nor have I rode it, so my opinion is just that, another opinion .... lol I could be wrong ......
I'm going to go back and see what Big Rock Moto has to say about the 450, He did a review a while back and his reviews are fairly objective .... I don't remember what said but I think he mostly liked it.

I just watched a "nothing to prove" youtube video where he rides a 450gs around the parking area at a dealership in germany. You do get to see how the centrifugal clutch works. It doesn't seem to engage late at all to me .... I think he quoted 2400ish rpms where that particular bike engaged the clutch. And it stays engaged until you almost stop. It just sounded like someone very skilled with a clutch imo. Check it out for yourself ......

I didn’t go out to find the review - I always read MCN as get it free .
Don’t think I’ve seen many positive reviews of the ERC yet .

Another thing - if the 450GS is supposedly so adept in the dirt , especially in Trophy guide , then why do BMW fit it with cast wheels and expect you to fork out another £1000 ( complete guess ) for spoked wheels when it’s already ) £1000 more expensive than anything else in the 450 class ?

the 450 gs is going to be a hit ..... It seems to me you just have to find the right review ......

Re: "instantly recognisable BMW colour scheme" being restricted to ERC models...
Sounds like there's an opportunity to buy the non-ERC model and pay for a customised wrap?

If there's wider agreement around BMW Motorrad 'mis-aligned' their marketing, then we might find an enterprising company designing & shipping these wraps as a set.

Anyone on here got kids looking to repay their 'Graphic Arts' student loans?

Has anybody ridden a number from this group of similarly A2 licensed adventure bikes? I’d be interested to know or have an unbiased almost amateur view rather than the so-called influences on social media.

I put a deposit on a Trophy model a couple of weeks ago and completing the purchase was subject to me liking it when I got to ride the demo when Cotswold BMW got one. Their original demo bike was written off.

I rode it yesterday and think it's great. The auto clutch is strange to begin with but works well and you soon get used to it. I love the colours of the Trophy model so was only really interested in buying this version.

Not sure when mine's arriving but Cotswold have sold all they have including those on their way to them.

They're hoping I'll have it in June

What's the story re: Shred Graphics?
Does this suggest that it's possible to purchase a non-ERC, then apply 'Trophy' graphics as a 'wrap' for the desired colour scheme?

That might create best of both worlds in terms of visual/engine preferences?

You can have the graphics of your choice.
They done the templates of his so can design whatever you choose.

Shred Graphics, decals for dirt riders https://share.google/lO6ZMDdtGkYYKmWwP

Is this them?

I'm sure there's a bob or two to be made there, around the 'Trophy' colours of the 450GS.
