Hi guys.

I ride a f650gs twin and have two questions on my mind:

Anyone tried an upgraded seat on the f650gs (twin) i.e. touratech, bmw upgrade, sergeant seat, custom upholstered? If so, what are your thoughts? I've been touring a few times with this standard seat and I'm walking like John Wayne after just a few hours.

and... would an aftermarket f800gs seat fit the 650? Most 'things' for these bikes are a direct swap and there seems to be a constant flow of 'used' f800 seats on ebay.

Thanks,

Max

I've had the Wunderlich seat on my F800GS for the last 110,000 miles and I've been happy with it :thumb

If you're anywhere near South Yorkshire you're welcome to come try it, see if it fits your bike and your arse :D

:beerjug:

Wifes got a Bm comfort seat on hers now. She's very happy with it, We haven't done any big distance with it yet. But so far she is impressed.

@Max, yes the F700 and F800 (GS, not GSA) use the same seat.

The standard seat is a real pain. I fitted a touratech seat and it works well (it is expensive though) it uses the BMW base so fits well and looks good too.

I had a Tony Archer modified seat with Gel insert. It worked well enough. I think building up to long rides helps too.

I have the Sargeant saddle like on my F8 works well :thumby: on a tour I throw one of those Alaskan skind over it.

On my F650 twin I had a tourateck high touring seet it was firm but has mellowed some. used a air hawk and lamb thingy over it :D

For my dead weight the Standard plank isn't worth a

I couldnt stand the original seat on my 2011 F800GS so I bought a gel seat, which I was more than happy with, but a friend was selling a Sargent which I am using and very happy with.

I would be prepared to sell the gel seat if you are interested.

Sargent seat here tried the BMW comfort one and it was a massive improvement on the original but the Sargent is better for me

I bit the bullet and bought a Comfort seat - a lot better than the original.
If one comes up s/h its worth it.

+1 for the touratech comfort (low) seat. Actually made by Kahedo. Bought off this forum. My local dealer Jeffries were doing a seat trial for f800 f650's why not try one.

My bike came with a lowered seat, not for me at 6'2 and the seat was to hard. Got a BMW comfort seat now big improvement.

Thanks for all the responses. I'd love to come check the wunderlich seat at some point but won't have time 'till at least mid June (should the offer still stand).

I'm still non-the-wiser about which seat is for me. I was kinda hoping there would be 30+ votes for just one seat so I wouldn't have to make a choice.

What is the Tony Archer thing people are talking about? I've done a quick google and it seems it's a guy who re-covers seats? If so, are the standard seats being used or are people buying upgraded seats and then letting Mr. Archer do his work?

Send your own seat to tony archer
And he will recover your seat or fit a gel pad whatever you require.

I have a BMW comfort seat which I intend to sell when I find it in the garage, will post details if anyone is interested
