As above, let me down twice now, everything's working well, alt max voltage only have running lights and TomTom connected along with charging lead and Kiess Plug for jacket!
When it plays up its as if the battery is flat ( 12.7v showing static, 14.7 at revs) Also the clocks go ballistic every time I turn ign on.
It just cuts out and then acts up. I'm stumped?
I hate electrickery, so if anyone has an opinion, lets have it please?

Only had mine go loose once on my old F650 twin, Im guessing vibration is the culprit. Two suggestions , isolate the battery case in the holder using some old rubber inner tube or similar to reduce vibration and secondly a drop of blue loctite then nip them up.

Clocks going crazy ( actually a double sweep) is the tell tale that battery voltage is falling, in your case due to the loose connection 👍👍

Try a washer either side of the post and swap out the bolt and nut for an M6 with Nyloc nut and just snug it don't wang it all the way that tight you crush the lead post

and secure the battery from wobbling about in there and cables also

That should cure it

My F800GS only suffered the battery leads coming loose when I used a MotoBatt battery during my Americas trip.
A right pain in the arse considering where the battery lives and what you have to do to get to it….as you’ll know.

How old is the battery? I'm suspicious about what the dash is doing, so probably resetting the clock every time too.

Sounds like it could be just a sulphated battery to me, in which case either just replace or get it tested for CCA.

If not the battery, then could the ignition switch be faulty - it's vulnerable to water ingress. The reg/rec & alternator stator, known problem areas, would be my next check - the R/R was sited badly, so suffers from excess heat & some have even reported the supply leads melting.

BTW, when researching electrical gremlins, it's a good idea to disconnect all retro-fit electrical devices to exclude them first. You appear to have several.

Ahhhh that would explain why the clocks do a double flash just after start up then, Battery has been on the bike for some time now, had bike 2 yrs but no proof of its life before? Every days a school day owning a BMW!
