Sounds just like my Dommie,,,

Coil, kill swith, CDI, Spark plug, Sidestand switch etc...

Then get a lift to a garage....

I am still waiting for a van going to Cork....:(

There is a special relay which feeds the ignition- it does not show up on the diagnostic but it can and does fail.

It is the large cube 7 pin iten , either orange or green , which you can see down the front of the battery , under the cover. It has a capacator to feed the BMS unit 12 volts for 3 secs, and a diode to make certain the current only goes one way.

Substitution is the only check although if the part number has been blanked off in texta it is a good indication that it from the old dud stock that have been lying around since the days of the first K bikes and BMW ere trying to slip out 24 tears later. Dont ask----.

not had any look as of yet, need to test the coil and ignition sensor.....dont know what the reading should be yet so cant do that....after that i guess i will have to bite the bullet and go get it plugged in.

so can anyone tell me what the 2 black relays are under the cover near the battery?

no idea if these have anything to do with my problem, but they need replacing....the pins were rusted in solid took a lot of prising to release them.

checked coil and its ok and the sensor in the crankcase.

all thats left is the relays and the ecu/cdi i think.

I'm guessing its the relief relay and the bms relay your asking about. Relief relay switches lights off when you hit the starter and the bms relay powers the brain.

Try replacing those before you do anything else.

yep it was the bms and relief relays, replaced them both today and it started.

so tomorrow im going to make sure water cant get at them again, and then apply dielectric grease to all connections etc.

thanks for any help/ideas that people gave/suggested it is appreciated.
