Ok, so one of the fork seals on the GSD i'm rebuilding is totally shot, so i'm trying to change them both.

I have however come across a bit of a problem;

I can't get the bottom bolts out. I've done a lot of googling, and the normal problem is that they rotate easily and don't undo - my problem is totally the opposite, in that I can't get them to turn AT ALL.

I have tried with the contents of the forks in and out, I have soaked the bolts in Plusgas penetrating oil, and have also tried WD40. I have turned them upside down, and pounded on them with a hand impact-driver, but no dice. I have also held a propane/butane gas flame over them for a few minutes, and that made no difference either.

I'm worried about the 6mm allen heads rounding off if I put a breaker bar on them, but does anyone have any better ideas?

Help!!

If you don't have any joy with an air gun, change the seals without dismantling the fork.

An air gun or even a decent impact driver will shock them out. A local garage would be able to undo them if you can't.

Ok, thats cool - thanks.

I've soaked them in Penetrating oil again overnight - will go and see the local garage today and report back for posterity!
