Hi guys

A friend on mine is looking at buying a 2008 F650GS.The bike has a lower seat but despite this she can only get her tippy toes to touch the ground.I have done a search on here but can't find anything regarding after market lowering kits. Is there an alternative to the BMW lower shock?
She seems quite taken with the bike but, it's current set up is a show stopper. Any advise would be welcome.

Cheers

have a look at this thread by Dave Ett :http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229263

I dont know if there is a kit for the F650 GS :nenau

My Fiancee rides an F800GS which was lowered with an aftermarket kit on the rear, and the forks dropped marginally at the front. Even with the low seat she can still only touch the ground on tip-toes, but now that she has got used to only using one foot at a time she is fine on it. The F650GS can be supplied with low suspension as a factory option. I haven't seen off-the-shelf after market lowering kits for the F650GS, as I guess most people who want it lower buy a factory lowered one. The lowered ones do come up second hand from time to time.

If she can tippy-toe she'll be fine with a bit of practice!

I have a factory lowered one and in normal boots can only do tiptoes on the ground (am a towering 5ft tall!) I have a pair of Lady Daytona built up bike boots which enable me to get my feet down - can she try with a pair of those? They give you about an inch and a half to two inches extra reach.

You can drop the front fork a bit which makes it lower but it does make it harder to handle. I started off that way with mine. Can she learn to stop with one foot or the other? After a few days you do it automatically.

BMW Lower Shock

Thanks for the info. The best and only real option's are to either wait until a used model comes on the market or she can buy a BMW lower shock for €450.00.The second option is looking like the best one at this stage. Will wait and see. Cheers
