F650 sump plug stripped threads Help please

A friend has just stripped the threads on the sump plug of his 1996 F650 . He is in his 70`s & relies on the bike as his only means of transport , he also has difficulty in walking , just having a had a tripple bypass op .

I will do the repair for him , but can anybody on this forum tell me the size of the sump plug please ?

Any help would be appreciated .

I believe it's quite a common thing to do. Try Motorworks or Motobins - one of them do a kit for this repair - it was approx £50 or so a couple of years back.
 
Check out Farnell. You will have to add VAT. I always use some Loctite 270 with activator "N" to secure thread inserts (makes them less prone to fretting and seals the thread). Ensure the Loctite has cured before you fit the drain plug back in
