1st post here and sorry it's a terrible one.

Went out to the bike this afternoon to fit my new Vario touring screen to find my clocks (speedo, tacho and LCD display) gone and just the electrical connector left dangling there. Any advice on the best course of action to get some new ones or what I legally have to have on the bike. I'll be reporting this to the police and insurance obviously but I'm absolutely livid as I'm about to depart on a two month trip to Europe next week and it seems like they are not an easy thing to renew/get hold of. Any advice will always be appreciated.

Eug.

That's definitely an order from Germany but it's a plug and play part - no ZFE reset etc, which i suppose is why the thefts are occurring. £300 + on eBay for 60 seconds thievery. Legally you should have a speedo and odometer for MoT but i can't imagine anyone noticing if you are just riding about sensibly...

Best,

S

Thanks S,
cost of replacement £508 +vat from BMW plus I need BMW to recode the new unit to my bike. Motorworks £280 if they can find a used one. I'm absolutely gobsmacked that the cluster can be removed so easily. For what it's worth I'm going to contact BMW and complain.

Should be able to get away with satnav as that has very accurate speed info, look on the positive side, if it happened while you were on your trip you would feel like you do now, at least you've got a bit of time to recover and nobody can steal what you haven't got.

im not sure about the MOT, because it can't be tested in the MOT centre so i think its not checked, as far as the police goes they prabably wouldn't check your bike just give you a ticket cos you were speeding.

nicked clocks

How did they remove them? was it the bolt that goes through the front bracket on the frame. or is there another way to remove them. interested to know so I could maybe make mine more secure. to avoid this. theres some fekin low lifes about.
