I've just ridden back from work with my front wheel about 5degrees off the vertical got the bike into the garage with some light and my lower left fork has a nice vertical crack up it  (i presume from fatigue or impact) not sure which......

Question: Will the forks/yokes from 2007 GS forks fit a 2000 frame? I know they changed to ABS etc between then and also fixed a problem with the internals but are they compatable?

you best go buy a lottery ticket, for you are one extremely lucky person. There's been a few accidents caused by the early forks not being strong enough at the wheel mount points, most haven't ended as well as yours has.

see this thread over on advrider.

Basically up until 2003 the f650 forks were weak around the wheel mounting point, no real issue until fatigue crept in, in 2003 the loweres were beefed up around the wheel mounts to fix the issue. Means all you need are a set of lowers from a f650 made after 2003, conveniently I have a complete set of 06 dakar forks, including yokes :D

You don't need new forks, just the lowers, mine are sat here doing nothing since i changed over to a yz setup. They need a bit of a clean up but i'll get them stripped down and bead blasted ready for a coat of silver hammerite and they can be yours for cheap :D I'll even deliver them if you want :thumb2

Yes the fork lowers from a post 2003 bike will fit on an earlier bike, The fork lowers are also the same between the dakar and the standard f650 The only difference was the stanchions and the internals. that means my dakar lowers will fit with the rest of your parts and you'll be on the road again :thumb
