I love modifying stuff myself but I still feel I'm missing the point here. Isn't this like sticking a GTI, Turbo or sports badge on a family car?

Well here is the story. When I decided I wanted a GS , I wanted the F800GS yellow/black but it was too high for me and didn't really have the funds to buy it . So I went with the F650GS... I guess by now you understand why I made this mod????

Its nice to see something different, yellow and black is a great colour :thumb2

Its a shame they have stopped it for now on the 800's i'm sure it will be back :D

What mods did you have to put around the false tank to accept the f800 air intakes ?

The only thing I had to buy from BMW was the AIR DUCT (about 45$ US) thats the plastic part around the rad. I used all the screw and clips from my original panels but 4 more were needed (5$) .

Surely the side panels are diferent on the two bikes not just the air duct??

Right , I installed the f800 side panels ( witch are different of the 650 panels) . The air duct is the part surounding the radiator . THe 800 panels screw onto the air duct.

I like it ;) Used to have a 650 (until a week ago) and now have a 800. But I really liked the 650, an excellent bike and why not make it stand out in the crowd ;)

looks good,i'm in a similar position, love the 800, but money and physical size point me to the 650, i couldnt decide what it was that made the front of the 650 look so "not right" it just looks plain frumpy imho, but putting the 800 side panels on makes it look so much better, even without the other mods and paint job, i think i can see a middle way now:thumb:thumb

When I see the front end of an F650GS I can't help but look at those forks... in comparison they look like they've been lifted from a £50 pushbike from Halfrauds.

:S
