I was doing some fettling on Clare's F650 and found that the air filter (only fitted a few weeks ago by myself) has got oil on the lower two "flaps". I then checked the drain tube from the airbox and there was maybe 10ml of oil in there, which I drained out.

What could cause this, and is it a problem? I'm pretty sure the oil hasn't been overfilled (I keep it about half way up the window), and even if it was slightly, surely the design of the system, with the seperate oil tank, would mean the excess would be in the tank, rather than in the crankcase?

Any ideas?

As already been said overfill, and it only needs a few to many mm's so ' by design it's dumped in the safest place rather than out all over the filler.
Safe to say that if no more is dumped in your airbox you may have overfilled by about 10 ml, but if it carries on drain and refill.

Thanks chaps.

The bike was dropped a few times at the weekend, that could have been a factor.

I've just done an oil change and refilled to exactly half way up the glass - I'll monitor it from here :)
