How much might my standard F650GS 2004 be worth in parts?

23k miles great runner - mot up in July - needs a fork seal, and only the warning/gear change lights work on instrument cluster.

Ive been told it’s worth more in parts than fixed, mot’d and sold.

Yeah Whoever told you that Will be laughing when you get left with a load of bits that just don;t sell

A bike with an MOT Will sell in one bit and everything will leave You don;t have to store the bits pack them to post etc etc !!!

DAMHIK

Why don’t you sell it to your mate for full value for him to break for parts and sell on?
He’ll make a fortune on it 😂

I'd estimate there's a max £8-900 in parts there with a load left over. Someone was offering free spare wheels and exhaust on here a while back that ended up scrapped.
It would sell complete for similar money if you're lucky with faults.
Fix it and enjoy it for many years is worth a lot more imo.
We have two Dakars with 100k + miles on them.
I've a friend who has some spares in Devon for these if you need anything.

Thanks! I’m too tall for it, going to try and fix it, mot and sell. I’m looking for a late clean Dakar or Sertao

Is it a lowered Dakar?
You’re too tall for it but now looking for a Sertao or Dakar - have I missed something?
Asking because I’m tall and thinking of a Darkar.

It’s a standard GS, not Dakar - just with Dakar fairings, a Sertao seat and full crash bars amongst other things.

I bought a custom ‘23 CRF300L Rally for a late summer tour, and will try to get the GS clocks repaired or a GPS speedo added, then MOT and sell it.

Engine worth about £500-£800 if you prove it's a good runner before you take it out.

Frame worthless as who the feck ever needs one. £200 if you get lucky

Wheels and forks a few hundred.

It will take you hundreds of hours of work. Then cleaning. Then dealing with selling, posting, blaah blaah blaah.

Breaking bikes ONLY works if you scale up your operation massively. Otherwise it's never ever worth it.

Your bike is worth far more as a running bike with an MOT.

I get your point although twice in my life I’ve broke even breaking (a car and a moto) and didn’t mind the process or recuperation time - I quite liked it. I must be a saddo!

In this case you’re right, she’s a low mileage good bike so will get her motd.
