Nice comment Howard, but i will add my 1200 gs which was more expensive lived at a bmw dealer for weeks with only 300 miles on the clock, and my 800 is going strong with no problems so does cost have a bearing on this issue, I dont think so.

I've just had the bike in for service and some other fixes and the problem has been sorted. The dealer put on yet another side stand switch just to be safe, but it seems a bit of metal underneath close to the switch was bent.

Hello Tim, I just coming up to my first service on my F650gs 800 and i'm concerned to read about your reacurring problems, as i'm also experiancing engine management problems if i hold the revs at 2000 the bike hunts between 1800 and 2200 also the power band is either on or off there's very little smooth power delivery.

I had the taller touring screen fitted (bmw) very pleased with it at higher speeds although i didn't pay full price ! (they made a mistake!!!!)

My problems are continuing. The side stand switch is now off again which means I can at least get the bike into gear without it cutting out. This cures mosts instances of stammering, but not all.

The sidestand sensor on the old F650 Dakar (single) could not be jumpered. I had one...I tried...no luck.
