Hi, I am thinking of changing my R1150GS and getting a newer F650GS.
Is there anything common to look out for.
I am only riding short trips to and from work now and the 1150 is to big for this.

Thanks, Nik.

Thanks Nick, I must admit I have not considered any of the other bmw models out there, but I will start looking, I do love my GS, cant fault it when moving, I'm just finding it too heavy sometimes.
Cheers Nik.

I did have a Funduro a while ago, it was an ex Vicars bike with low millage.
The thing I remember was the poor engine paint around the water pump, are the newer ones still prone to this?
Cheers Nik.

f650gs

Go for it. I had an f650gs and have an 1100gs, I stupidly sold the 650 because I didnt use it for a few months. I still regret selling it, it is/was a superb bike and if I could afford another I would, every time I rode it I smiled. Luckily my partner has one so still get to ride one:beerjug:

Hi Hovis, I know what you mean, I regret selling my old Funduro, I had a blast on it. The R1150gs was bought to use all year round, I ride about 10 miles each way to work every day. It is rock solid in bad weather, I ride in gales, rain, snow and ice over high exposed land and thats the mains reason I bought it.
But I now find it hard to move around with the weight, I just dont want to regret getting rid of it for something smaller and find it harder in bad weather.

Cheers Nik.
I'm turning into a SOFTY.

I love mine, great bike, the more I ride it the better it feels.

Took it off road as well a few weeks ago and was really pleased with me and it.

Some people say go for the twin spark but mine is single spark and seems to run perfectly well. Should be able to pick up one for less than 2K, would recommend lower mileage and pannier frames.

Check the heated grips and ABS work OK.

Good luck

Thanks Greger,

is there anything to look out for other than ABS and heated grips?

Cheers Nik.
