More of a picture report than a ride report . . . . . of a recent trip south into the darkest depths of Welsh Wales from the north east of Jockland :D

Ready for the Off

The Lecht – Snow abounds . . . . . a theme that continues throughout the week

Hartside – decided to take a scenic route to my overnight stop, including a gritty climb up to Hartside Café

Salterfell – AustinW & I took in the air from several thousand feet up . . . . . and some snow showers

AustinW washing his bike

BIG rock steps up here

Ah, Hi-Viz man has made it to the top of the hills I see

The Gentlemen Do Lunch Clubs run into the hills in North Wales, to a well known eatery . . . . . and then on to Bala

And onto some scenic water catchment device

Run to South Wales. After a cold night under canvas in Bala, my route took me into all sorts of weather on-route south

10 miles after leaving camp . . . . . .

Brecon Beacons weather

Local pub was shut ;)

Taffy Dakar Bikes. The home of the Taffy Dakar near . . . . some weird Welsh sounding name :D

Chris Corks 2016 Dakar machine

The Southern Irish contingent travel in style

Proper lightweights

But this is what the discerning Taffy Dakar rider rides . . . . .

. . . . . . . including a whole spare front end

Run Home – The view that always makes me grin big style as I head over the hills towards Moray . . . . .

The F658GS - a real allrounder

I have a TKC80 on the front and a Mitas E09 Dakar on the rear. I found them fine on the road, under a fully loaded bike and really useful off road, easliy clearing most types of local to me mud and peat :D

Last year I ran a Mitas E09 Dakar front, but I found it's wear rate to high, hence my choice of TKC80 fro the front, which looks hardly worn after the 1600 miles so far covered.

Ash - Thanks for the kind comment. And yes, it was a tad chilly
