New to forum, from Ireland, 1 hour north of Dublin, I just purchased 2020 F750 GS with 5300miles BMW service history, i traded up from Honda CB500X 2020, the original Ankee 111 tyres are still on bike, i cant but notice from 30 mph onwards up that theres a load of noise that i would describe whining from both front & back, while i like the bike i have never heard this before on any bike !

Thoughts - insights ?

Yep its the tyres, My F700 gs had them when I collected it. They make a noise like knackered wheel bearings. If you can stand the noise put up with them until they square off. In my case I swapped them for Conti trail attacks, no more noise.

You will notice the noise reverberates around the screen / top fairing. Mine started at about 40 mph and just became louder with speed.

That’s helpful thanks as I was saying to myself what have I bought 🫣 that’s it, it sounds like knackered wheel bearings indeed & yes around the screen area ⚠️

Anakee 3s are possibly the worst tyre of the modern age (IMHO). They have terrible handling and grip characteristics on most bikes - and the noise makes you think you've got tinnitus. There's a reason manufacturers fit them to so many bikes - Michelin can't sell them on the open market so knock them out as OEM for peanuts.

You will find the odd post from a bod defending them but you'll find very few who fit a second set. Most bikes would ride better with no tyres at all :D

Strange thing is that both the Wild and the Adventure are decent tyres...

Cheers, looks like I may change them so …..

If you're up near Dundalk then A1 tyres at Dromore are usually pretty competitive price wise. I favour Continental Trail Attack 3 and would recommend them. :thumb2

Cheers man, yes I am 20 min west of Dundalk, the “Visor Shop” Newry also has good tyre reviews.

I am going to change the front tyre for sure and see the results !

Had Continental TK70s on my F700GS and loved 'em. Dare I ask how much you paid for your F750? I'm back home now (and starting all over again) but be looking for one once the house and licensing is sorted. (Ugh...)

Here is me below trying to justify what i paid for it ................... just like i had to with my boss [The wife]

2020, white, entry model, 1 owner from new, sold new out of BMW Dublin Joe Duffy Motors M50, Bmw service history x 1 as mileage is so low, c8k Km, it has BMW top box factory fitted, it has Newtech side soft waterproof side paniers as new & tank bag as new, it had new Ankee 111 back tyre fitted also [Not happy with noise], heated grips but i think thats factory standard, PUIG touring screen, i gave €9500 for it

Not bad there. I'm eyeing the continent, I see fully loaded 2019s and 2020s for about that, but would have to get them back and VRT the things so would much rather get one here. (Saw one on Donedeal there but €11,500 and hate the colour haha).

Thankfully have full boss approval for it since I sold my fully loaded F700GS over in the States before moving back, so "technically" the money's set aside for it already. Just need to get the IBT and license sorted, ugh...
