Had a little off on friday evening. Leaving coventry on the A45 dual carriage way, last but one island towards back-lanes home. No speed no burst of power or lean, coming off the island the bike went from under me. So quickly I couldn't get my leg up very high off the peg in time.

Slide from left lane into the right lane over 5+ meters of road. I was doing 15-20mph, hit an unseen oil spill & bosh. Man Down Trapped sliding with a quick glance behind me to see where the nearest car was. Then looking down at my leg with sparks blazing off the crash bar (I actually thought this would be a cool photo) lol.

So for the bollocking, it's coming I know. I was only wearing some light clothing under my works boiler suit, the tarmac soon rubbed that out the way. My ankle was protected from good work boots, however I've pulled a tendon. So this whole friggin weekend has been a 4 meter square adventure with a walking stick.

The bike is awesome, I lifted it up using reverse technic & rode it home. Charming down the nice people that stopped & offered assistance, hobbling away from my now hazard lit parked bike. A walker saw me go down & confirmed there was an oil spill.

Damage list; worn a little of the bottom of the pillion peg & rear pannier frame. Worst been the crash bar which has grounded-down nicely. Boiler suit has two strange holes. :eek My knee will take time to heal as it had the bike resting on it.

My knee is still swollen but I can walk on it now. Don't think I'll be throwing bags a cement around for a day or two @work.

Two people reporting accidents at the same time, both saved by crash bars...

Might need to get me some before the winter :O

Hope the knee repairs it self soon chap!

My knee is swelling up & providing quite a colourful display. Looking forward to a nice bruise  There's no pink/brown stuff anywhere, its called an insulated boiler suit.

Argh you mean the morning frost on my bikes seat *d'oh*

I leave the Varois on all the time, they are tough and offer leg protection in a slide off situation.

Glad you are OK. Now get some leather.

Oh dear...
Pleased you and your steed are both OK..
Satin black hammerite will sort your crashbars, but it ain't no good for road rash.

Is it bruised or is it bike paint? Get well soon Paddy - see you down this way on 9 Nov!

Harry

Glad your ok and the bike will fix. Don't need to go there about not wearing protection, you would have given yourself that blocking soon after the spill.

It all could have been a lot worse...

HI Paddy,

sorry to hear about your off, but glad your OK. :thumb2
also good thing damage is minor :thumb2

But I have been looking at your pictures and I have to ask.

what happened with your woopee cushion it looks like it jizzed all over you bike?

Did you take that picture with your trousers down before or after help stopped for you?

Anyhow I'm glad you took the picture of your wound form that angle :thumb2and stop riding around in a boiler suit it will not impress Mr Austin :jager

all the best :beerjug:

Glad to here you're ok - where about's on the A45 - I ride into Cov on the A46 - then cross the A45 on the way home (by the pug garage).. I've noticed that in the last few weeks everywhere around cov just seems to have got really slipply..

The puntams needs a little air, the wind now that there are new barns around me. Causes morning frost patterns on loads of stuff. However the builders sheet will be dragged out to protect my bike, now the weather & season is turning.

I meant Calming rather than charming (like wtf brain fart moment).

The second image is from this afternoon of my knees, some 48 hours later. Still waiting for the bruising to appear. This could be a nasty deep injury to my knee. CBA with hospital, I've took 2 days off work, see how things roll with this on wednesday. Bit of an arse but it wont interfere with this years final plans for me. :clap

Location of my off. I'll do an update image of my green & black knee.

Welcome to the club Paddy .... I'm saying nothing about the merits of CE armour here :rob but you know you shoulda ... :blast

Hey ... I was born in Cov - did I tell you? And lived the first 6 years on my life in Stonehouse Lane which is only a few hundred yards from your 'epicentre'. I remember Tiger Moths flying from the grass strip at Baginton Airfield ... now known more commonly as Coventry International Airport ...

See you next month ....

Ow!

Sorry to read of your little mishap Paddy.
I have occasionally employed the ablative technique to shed excess velocity, and in retrospect, other methods are probably to be favoured:eek
Its interesting to note that tarmac and synthetic carpets cause very similar knee trauma :comfort
Glad you`re ok chap, hope you and your cycle heal soon :aidan

Sorry to hear about you off mate! Looks like we have both had better weekends!

Hope the bikes bot to damaged and hope you feel better soon! :)

I know that roundabout - in fact I go round that almost everyday on my way home from work.. :eek

Glad you're ok mate, I hope that your leg injury will heal in no time.

I have a dainese pair of trousers, which I dont use because its too warm....
