Hi Dean - only just seen this thread
Congrats on "moving up" to the F8GS
Looks ace - hope you keep that Gorilla Chad off of the drivers seat - the bike would disappear up a dark place, never to be seen again
Maybe see you & him north of the border in the future - we could compare F8GS Bling
Stevet
Cheers Steve
We must plan an over the border run
You woke up the silverback
Cheers Dean, just ordered some
Hi Dean, thanks for posting all the pics + info.
Just a few questions (as someone who loves my 2010 F650GS .. but hates the **** seat)
I'm not sure whether to buy an F800GS or 1200GS WC....I really wouldn't use the 125 HP ... but I do want to be able to undertake long trips in comfort !
I suspect there are a few F650GS owners following this thread ....with similar questions.
Is that a Sargent seat ? How does it compare ?
Do you wish you had bought an F800GS earlier ? Is the seat to footpeg distance the same on both bikes ? ie is it as cramped for tall guys ? ( the 1200 has that adjustable seat thing that is so good )
Hi Stuart,
Seats...... are a personal thing..
F650GS twin and F800 GS share the same seats, the Sargent on my F800 is a great seat its better as it is wider proper saddle.. (may need to add a fleece for big runs not sure yet

)
On my f650 I had a Touratech (Kahedo) High touring comfort seat, but always euro toured with a airhawk pad and lambs fleece, but for this years Euro jaunt I removed the airhawk and just added the lambs fleece 1500 miles later and all was well

either I have toughened up or the seat has given a little
I think from a F650 to 12's is a natural progression every 12 loan bike I did not want to return.
Personaly my size I think the F650 and F800 are better solo bikes, If my wife was into bike or I had more available money then 12 it would be

I have not ridden a 12WC yet I do not want to

. I realise many pillion on the f6.5 and f8 twins with no issues
I Have enjoyed my F650 and know that they are great bikes by spending 30,000 miles on one it amazed me how slight changes from standard , screen, suspension, seat transformed the bike to more enjoyment comfort and smilles

.
The F800gs is of course taller than a 12 and more than the f650, i'm still bonding with the F8 at the moment thing is I put more than 3.5K into the f650 (no regrets) the suspension is something else

F8 is chunkier-heavier front end thicker bars, forks, twin brake disc and calipers 19 front wheel = different feel.. But nice the the F650 become second nature in an oh so good way

15 more BHP which I only notice in the pull from 70

, more suspension travel with a greater ground to sump dimension
F650 standard pegs with the rubber on to top of the standard seat about 510mm. F800 pivot pegz to seargant seat 10 to 15mm more.
Loved my F650 thought I had paired for life, F800GS each day I love it more

Leaving the F650GS on the best of terms its a cracker as you know

cant wait to Im in a position to purchase some Nitron suspension from Rugged Roads for the f8
