f800gs or tiger 800xc

Yeah, but its a Triumph - just dont expect customer service :thumb

Depends on the dealer! my local triumph dealer was always excellent my local BMW :censor: - well I ride 140 miles return to get the same standard from BMW (rainbow)

Enjoy your new bike - I love my GS 12, but am looking forward to see if Triumph do bring out a 'rival' as I had a tiger 1050 for 2 years that was superb - all but the rear shock that was a shocker ( replaced no hassle under warranty)

I have experienced the tiger 800 and was tempted but want to wait :drool for the 1200 if no good another GS is calling

I'm very tempted by the 800xc and am booked in for a test ride but I still find myself being drawn back to the 1200GS, the Triple Black in particular, so I'm gonna take a GS out again come spring.

800XC

Tried the 800XC yesterday- fantastic engine, felt (a lot) faster than my 06 1200 - obviously more frantic but so smooth- might trade in. decent size riding position but less of a handful. I'd advise anyone to try them

As we all know, the new Tiger 800 is heavily based on the F800GS, with a few R1200GS bits chucked in for good measure.

Those pioneers of Motorcycle journalism (Bike Magazine), have done the first comprehensive test of the Tiger 800 XC against all its meaningful opponents.

First they compare it to the Kawasaki Versys, I understand the ferries to Morocco are full of them? The Tiger 800 produces 82.1 bhp, and 48.8 lb.ft of torques. (Well shy of their own dyno figures for the F800GS.) Then they test it against winter roads, and are most impressed with the battery. Apparantly it started easily after almost 2 weeks in the shed. Next they test it against the Tiger 800, I think it won that one!

Then comes the big off-road test. Pitted against 5 propper Crossers, a V-Strom, a Varadero, the Tiger 800, a 1200 adventure, and the KTM. It came 7th.

So, the big question remains, why no F800GS?

Surely that's the test we're waiting for?
