F800GS owners.......A Penny for your thoughts...

....How are you getting on with it?
Good/bad?

Thank you in advance.
Well, when I had mine it wasnt a bad bike. if you intend on doing any miles on it though I would definitely go for a taller/wider/better screen. I seem to remember that the seat wasnt really brilliant. Wouldnt mind another one, but I would have to sell my 12 first.....

You're not selling the 12 already?:eek::blast

When I bought the 1200 I was definitely going to keep it, and it is a good bike, but 2 things have just happened, firstly my shoulder injury from the twat who did a u turn on me is starting to play up again, since I got the 1200, and to be honest its not the riding that is starting to hurt, but the on and off the stands, and physically shifting it around. The 800 weighs a little less and from my go at shifting one around yesterday it seemed much less of a problem, plus with my now confirmed redundancy looks like ill be going for a bike thats lower on insurance and fuel anyway.

i know it seems like i cant make my mind up, and if you thought that then you would be right, but when I got the 1200 there was redundancy stuff i didnt know about that my boss should have told me but, and I quote"forgot to tell you as I have been busy too"

Oh and by the way i just looked at the weights for the 1200 and the 800. The 1200 is 199KG and the 800 is 185KG. Not a great deal of difference, so how come it feels so much lighter...

Very pretty.

btw Exactly what is involved in removing the 33bhp restriction on these bikes?

Just curious :nenau

How many of you 800 owners run the 85hp spec and how many run the 83hp spec ?

Rated output 63 kW (85 hp) at 7,500 rpm (optional 91 RON version: 61 kW (83 hp) at 7,500 rpm)

If you're going to go for an 800 just be aware that at this mileage ...

The paint might just start to wear off

As for cornering, they leave a lot to be desired ... the centre stand gets in the way of exuberant cornering ;)

The finish will leave you nothing to complain about ... you'll need a 1200 for that

Yeah ... at over 74,500 miles it shouldn't look like this, I mean it's been overland to Morocco, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and even the Karakorum Highway :blast

I wouldn't be buying another F800GS for sure

This one will do me nicely thank you :thumb

flipping heck...that is some endorsement :thumb2

lovely colour that Yellow one  tbh I think I like that more than any of the 2012 ones (Although I also like the Lava Orange ones from 2010 and last year)

How would you tell the difference Keith? :nenau

Forget 85bhp or 83bhp - .......105 sounds better :augie
With a bigger bore and stroke, the reworked BMW F800 engine’s capacity is up to 898cc and produces 105bhp and 74ftlb of torque. It has a new cylinder head, camshafts, larger valves, forged pistons and conrods and a triple layer head gasket. It also has a new crankshaft with a new offset, which Husqvarna says gives a throatier engine note, a snappier response and fewer vibes. The Nuda is fast, punchy and smooth and the motor is more than enough for this type of bike.

In essence it’s a re-badged, re-styled parallel twin-cylinder BMW F800 with a 100cc bigger motor. The Nuda mixes typical Husqvarna supemoto thrills with a comfier riding position and a nod to practicality, if you go for the optional touring extras, which include panniers and taller screen. Although the motor is very frugal, a small 13-litre fuel tank hampers practicality. There’s also a 900 R version (costing £9250), which comes with Brembo monobloc brakes, a sportier seat, a one-tooth smaller front sprocket for better acceleration and fully-adjustable Sachs forks and an Ohlins rear shock.

Supermotos are usually hard, wafer-thin things that you can’t wait to get off, after a few miles. The Nuda 900 is roomy, comfortable and up to 80-90mph has acceptable wind-protection. The base-model’s basic suspension is set well to deliver comfort and control in the corners. It gives you good feedback for what the standard equipment Metzler Sportec M5 Interact tyres are doing, too. Brembos are well up to the job of anything you can throw at them on the road. The higher-spec R model rides the same but has a slightly taller seat. Suspension and braking is far more suited to track-work. Fit a set of sticky tyres and it would be untouchable on a twisty B-road.

That's twice^^^

I'm begining to think it might be a serious suggestion?

ive allready posted this ,but i love mine ,loved my 1200gsa ,but pushing it around it was to heavy ,the 800 is no lightweight if you drop it (havent done that yet).
for me its like a proper old bike ,chain drive doesnt bother me ,95% of all bikes have it .
the seat ive got used to ,might try a sheepskin ,but im ok with it .
looking forward to getting down to morroco on it ,last went there on a bike 21 yrs ago ,xt 600 !!!!
i think for me the difference is ,when i want to pop into town ,sometimes i couldnt be bothered to get the gsa out .
but i allways want to take the 800.

Micky....Re your 'bike and servicing. I've read a couple of horror stories re VERY expensive servicing on 800s....difficult to check valve clearances etc.. I (and presumably Y2blade) would be grateful if you could post a little info' re the service history of your 'bike....Who does it?....How often etc?

Clearly, whatever you are doing must work...

Thank you....:)
