My power socket not working, are there any common faults with these before I go getting my really big hammer ?

Thanks

Mine tripped when I plugged in an air compressor, ignition off, back on, it reset itself. Don`t know if that helps.
If you plug in something eg heated jacket I believe it regulates how much current you can draw so can switch itself off?

I had my dealer wire in a plug direct to the battery for air compressor, camp light etc.

Yes it was a slime pump, tried a sat nav after and still no power, I'll give it a good look next week, short on time now, thanks anyway

i took a feed direct of my battery after mine did the same.
the feed now is hidden behind the front right fairing [ easily assessable ] ;)
Added benefit of a live feed if needed for battery charge / blow up camping bed etc.........
[ sat nav now wired via can bus lead by headstock ]

I've done the same to mine. I fitted a second power socket (in the handy blank provided by BMW) using one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OPTIMATE-...85?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5ad90c4039 This second socket is permanantly powered, which comes in useful whilst on trips. This setup also leaves a convenient 'optimate' type connector easily accessible if I need to connect something else up.
