F800GS top box latch

Anyone had any issues with latch on the top box of a 800GS failing? Appears the two metal hoops that catch the mounting plate no longer engage. Mine fell off today, lucky to retrieve it.

The actual lockdown part broke on mine, off-roading in Germany. Topbox is held on with chain & padlock.

mine used to squeak after 1,5 years of continuous use, used a little chain lube on it and it works like a charm again

PS: I m referring to the BMW aluminum top-box

Thanks Gents. May just put a hasp and clip to hold it down in the back.
