The 800GS copes well with camping gear if you are solo, I had Varios loaded up plus tent, inflatable matress, foldy-uppy chair and a huge dry bag lashed across the pillion seat. No problem at all with another 2 turns on the pre load. Wouldn't want to tour 2-up on one, though.

TKC80's: looks like I'll get about 2K out of mine.

Screen: personally, I find the standard screen OK for cruising at 80-ish, and I'm 6' 2". Can't comment on what gains you'd get off a bigger screen.

I did nearly 2000 miles in Scotland a few weeks ago 2-up and with LOTS of camping gear. No problem at all. The 800 has a brilliant carrying capacity, doesn't feel underpowered, and still gets down low through bends, even when luggaged to the hilt (20&40L Ortlieb bags, alu panniers, 52L givi maxia top box, and tank bag). I'd have no qualms about taking it around the world with my girl and luggage.
I use TKC's as default tyres and wouldn't upgrade the screen. I had the metal mule but it creates so much wind noise. I've the MRA screen on order and is due to arrive in a month. Stock is as good as there is right now it would seem (for my height of 6"1'). Enjoy the trip.

Thank's for the advice :thumb. What i want to do now is to fix a tool tube to vario boxe's. Before anyone say's it's a "tool" tube i carry my MSR bottle init.
Fit's brill but no where to fix to the bike?
Will it be alright to drill and fix on the back of the box! I had a look to see if it will fit and yes but the right back indicator will be hidden from view when lookin from the side :nenau.
The vario's have the expanable system and i know to be carefull when drilling.
Any advice welcome:)

Im looking to travel down to southern spain at this time and cold probably join you as far as you like to go. I wont be doign any offroad though as i will be on road tyres and i have another bike for that stuff.

I know some great places in the pyreness after doing the HUMM last year, both on and off road.

Send me a pm if you wanna discuss it.
