F800GS with Wolfman

Here's a few photos of my F800 with the Wolfman Expedition panniers fixed to SW Motech racks. There don't seem to be too many photos out there to help folk see if this is the sort of thing they want or not.

I hope they are of use.

I'll have to have a closer look as I assumed that with the buckle in the centre, it wasn't possible.

Wolfman's rack doesn't have a pillion grab rail and with the buckles sitting on centre and no space under the seat to accommodate them that it was a no goer. I am even looking at cutting the straps so that i can sew new ones on that offset the buckles. The rear one can go over the seat far enough back that the pillion won't sit on it but the front one would make the pillion's rides 'interesting' at best

Even if it could fit under the seat, I think the strap might still clash with the seat plastic.

Shadders, you were good enough to let me see your bike( which is what got me to where i am now), could i have the more complex answer please ? I should have looked a little closer at the pub A photo would be even better

I know the photos have the strap over the top but i just wanted to point out i have a set and can assure you i have ridden hundreds of miles with the panniers on and a pillion sat on the back seat with the strap from the panniers passed under the seat.

I keep my bike at work so if Dave cant post some photos with the strap passed under the seat i will take some when im back off hols and post them early january

Dave i have ridden with the buckle completely off centre but in this case it fits nicely even if the buckle is centre, just try it you will see it fits. ill give you a shout first nice day in jan if you fancy a ride out? Shad

Well, after a nice2 hour ride with the missus onthe back (but minus the panniers ) thought I'd have another look. And yes, it can be done Both buckles are centre. The rear one tucked under the seat pins and the other positioned such that the round bungs attached to the seat itself actually sit onthe strap either side of the buckle.

Mind you, if you haven't much weight in the panniers you might question the need to connect them (although Wolfman say you must , we all think we know better when it comes to instructions, don't we ? )

I'll sort photos out later.

Pal what seat is that? Im sure my original seat doesn't look the same even though i have the same bike Also where did you get radiator grill and screen from ?? Do love the panniers though but can see them being a pain to get off so i wont look any further as i have very limited patience

Looks like the BMW low seat to me.

The rad grill was off eBay.

I think....... Best look at the various providers as my memory is shakey at best !!

Used these 2 summers ago for a Mongolia trip. Took a big hit and where the Ortlieb bag rubbed through, these were bullet proof. The guy who owns Wolfman rolled in on awayfromhere to thank me for using them, so quite impressive aftersales too. They are the perfect size for fitting a couple of spare tyres around too! Everyone who I met and travelled with who had hard panniers were certain they were going home to change to these, so I'd say money well spent, and they force you to bring less and make the bike much lighter too. Plenty of pictures on the link below.

these release in seconds there,s 4 mounting points each side with a quick release buckle,the motech racks also come off in seconds...the bag it self takes a bit of studying as to how it closes up but once you,ve mastered it no probs...

Absolutely spot on

There's a brief bit of familiarisation with them which you get through as you fit them, then it's a doddle.

Although I have to say that the Motech rack took a bit of 'persuasion' to make fit at one point. I needed to use an old chisel as a screwdriver large enough to turn the quick lock bolts. I also ended up drilling three new holes in my plate. I'll keep the rack fitted though I think as htey also act as a kind of crash bar and don't spoil the look of the bike at all IMVHO.

The two panniers with clothing and sleeping bag and an old North Face small duffle bag for the tent and that's me sorted for everything from a week to several months in Europe at least.

I can't rate the Wolfman set-up high enough.

BTW, here's a photo of the cross straps fitted under my seat.
