Made and fitted by Richie Moore who makes some great airhead bits and bikes-Things like 6 speed boxes.

The plate is silicon sealed to the airbox and takes a filter from a BMW 2002 car - You use paper ones in the sand where the viabration shakes the sand off, also you avoid sanding buildig up on top of the standard filter and the potential to have sand fall into the box when you change it.

Looks like a copy of the HPN-setup:

More bling..not needed but it is nice to see different approaches :thumb2

Not needed:( would have to dissagree if you want to get enough air in to the Engine like the old ones to keep the power up. With all the emisions and down tunning shit that went on to keep the old buggers in production, this is an improvment:thumb2
Personaly prefer the HPN as it has a upstand to close off the and protect the starter motor.

It's bling !! :D

A K & N will give more air if needed...remember these arn't performance bikes !! Maybe, just maybe if they are overbored with massive carbs then you may want to try this set-up.

I agree, plate needed to stop crap going into starter motor gummizes:thumb2

Have KN and still can't get enough air in to the engine and the only performance mod is the hpn silencer and a y piece from motoworks.

K&N. BMW 2002 E-2290 £47 /Stock paper BMW 2002 £7.40
Both have metal top on filter saves making one. (if you go for the Round bmw bike you would). Also the only way to get adequate air to engine. and you can make it all by yourself:D

K&N. R100RS Round £26 /round paper £8.40
Better than stock but you need to change housings as well, large cost for not a lot

K&N R100gs FLAT £47/Stock Flat £16
Dyno proves it doesn't work even with trumpets off:eek:

The main reason for the mod is the standard verion is a flat filter so sand sits on top, builds up and you start to lose power - Then you stop in the dirt (rather than in the bivovac with an air line) to clean it and as you lift it clear some sand and drops into the bottom of the airbox and you have a problem.

That aside the bike does seem to perform better for it

Richie Moore can be contacted on 07789 191 355

Richie was recomened to me by Bernie Wiright (Plumb, Pavey and Cyril D mechanic)

He has Airfilter's in stock - for the 6 speed box you'll need big dosh

Although I did not fit mine for power it pulls much better at high revs and was sitting on Bakermans 1150 tail during those flat out 45mph upto 95mph overtakes yesterday - (that's a proper 95mph, not an 1150 standard speedo 100+)

Mention my name if you call him

Just to scarry me, have got an idea of the six speed price ?

Wreford's bike is no normal airhead.....................having ridden it a lot

It's is seriously quick and pulls like a train

That engine is no normal airhead engine or chassis has little similarity with a conventional airhead G/S or GS

I don't know what Richie charges for a 6 speed box but it's the kind of thing you consider once you've spent the first £10,000 on a tricked Airhead and are on the way to making it a £15,000 bike - I would expect it's around £2000.
It's really designed for Airhaeds that have been tunned for maximum power and where you need the close ratios to keep in the power - More track than dirt

A Y piece  ... you'll have Rob on here in a mo :augie

Git!

I'm getting somewhere with mine. I've swapped the carbs for a pair of early 80's RS ones. fitted the 150 mains but left the RS needles and other jets in. The bikes cooking midrange now

Hopefully I'll get a run on the Dyno again next week.
