Failing caliper lugs or spokes? I need some guidance!

Mark, as others have said don’t go anywhere near it, leave it to BMW to resolve as you don’t want to be another party involved in an investigation into a serious incident.

If you do decide to go ahead with it I would inform your insurer as you may find yourself uninsured if you get involved without their knowledge and they deem that you increased their risk beyond reasonable by means of your actions.

Yup there’s that too!

This page debates the different type of bolts, but are not spesific in their conclusion to how much reduction should be applied.

I found this page: https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/torque-lubrication-effects-d_1693.html

There is no mentioning of threadlock, but as it makes the bolts rather slippery, I would compare it to oil.

To make it short: If we reduce the specified torque by 1/3 we should be pretty well covered.

The BMW bolts are covered with a dry type of thread lock. It seems to somehow react to pressure. Thus, it does not lubricate the bolt, but still works as a one-shot threadlock.

Understood, the only conclusion (in the link I provided) was that Loctite evened things out a bit - as I understand it.
