In another thread I complained that I was having to wait 3 months for a 24k service at Rydales, a dealership where I've always received top-notch service in the past.

Whilst the staff shortage issue is still being addressed, I had a 'phone call from Crampie (Peter) yesterday advsing me that there was a vacant slot in the schedule next week, so my bike is now being serviced more or less on time.

As my issue has been addressed its only right that I give credit where due.

:beerjug:

And

I passed the time of day with Crampie today and to be fair he was honest and pretty helpful to.

I quite like visiting there and will continue to do so. I'll also give them stick when I don't like something BUT also give credit where I think it's deserved.

Wonder if I can get my bike booked in for my 6,000 mile service when I need to <G>

Called in myself recently............

Twice:eek:
Took my youngest son out on the bike Saturday, stopped to wind a bit more preload on the rear shock and discovered a worrying amount of play in the rear wheel:eek:
Rode slowly back to Rydale and Mike confirmed that my bike did indeed have excess play in the paralever bearing, said he'd "leave a note" on Crampie's desk and have him call me first thing Monday (he suggested I might like to leave the bike there, unfortunately he had no loan bike available so i declined).

I should point out here, that, although I have the bike booked in for a service elsewhere this Tuesday,Rydale have recently carried out a warranty gearbox exchange and as they'd removed the paralever less than a thousand miles ago, would like the opportunity to look at/put right the excess play now evident.

Spoke to Crampie (briefly) this morning, then spoke to the service manager John, who suggested I bring the bike back this afternoon and it would be sorted while I wait, true to his word-problem solved quickly and without fuss ;) Full marks!

Good to see that Techies can migrate in both directions though,as Mike the former bike tech turned car tech has taken over as "stand in bike tech"whilst the new full time bike tech takes his wedding vows in America,I'm sure somebody suggested that in another thread somewhere didn't they

I thought my bike was handling badly and wondered if my rear shock was on its way out.

Wrong. At the 24k service Rydales diagnosed play in the paralever. It's like riding a different bike.

Hi Steve,

WTF?

Whatever you are on, I'll have some ...

....... had my bikes 24k service done at Rydales, techie was a bloke called Bernie down from London for the week, he really knew his stuff and the bike is going like a train now ....

:thumb :thumb

... that is until my new BMW heated vest blew the 15a ignition circuit:

- Excellent service from BMW assist - attended within the hour and got me back on the road (ahem, no I didn't have any spare fuses on me ... oops)

- Excellent service from Rydales, Crampie replaced the vest FOC no quibbles.

So I am one happy GS owner this night.

:) :) :)

Rang Rydales again today to see if they had a cancellation so that my Nov 15th service date could be brought forward. Credit where it's due, the chap I needed to speak to first was unavailable, but he did ring back within 15 minutes. Did not take his name, but they kept my details to one side in case someone pulled out. At the moment he couldn't bring my date forward, but he was so pleasant and helpful that it took the sting out of it somehow. :)
