If he's handy with the spanners I still have my FZS600S that I picked up when I moved back home to the UK. Circa 23k miles, owned for 12 years now and didn't let me down until going into a company car in 2016, life got in the way and it's been parked up since.
With the R1200R + GS in the garage now as well, realistically as great a platform as it is with work it'll be another 10 years before I get around to doing anything with it! Writing this from work so all is from memory.
Good bits: Smart for it's age, engine bars, replaced the headers with stainless steel as originals go, all they keys/bookpack ect. to go with it. Have a grab handle and rear rack to go back on as well as a few maintainence bits. (I'm sure I have a brand new K&N for it somewhere as well). Blue flame end can sounds lovely. Datatag/v5 ect in my name
Bad bits: Hasn't been anywhere in 10 years, will need recommissioning, fluid, boots ect. Crack in front left fairing infill panel, general age related marks eg rub in the paint on one of the rear panels from either luggage or a boot.
First picture is as it sits, below that was summer 2015

No idea how to price it - the only 2 FZS600-S I can see on ebay sold at £720 for a CAT bike and £1071 for a runner with a cracked sump so £850 sounds right?
