I am missing my S1000RR which I sold earlier in the year. The thrill of the speed it delivered is addictive and I would like something faster than my GS1250 in my garage.

I’ve been thinking of changing to a Multistrada to give me something a bit more exciting but it occurs to me that maybe something second hand as a second bike would be a better bet?

An old school Fireblade? A Tuono? First gen S1000R?

Any suggestions welcome. Requirements are: under £10k (cheaper the better in fact), very fast, sharp handling and if possible, without a full fairing as I sold the RR because the top end speeds got silly, quickly, often!

Thanks all.

Call me crazy, but I think your 1250 is plenty fast enough for most “jollies” situations in the UK (or anywhere else). I’ve only got a 1200 and seldom embarrassed fairing bashing 😬

Suzuki GSXS 1000 ?

150 bhp K5 engine .

Or older version much cheaper

Its to easy to go fast these days and lose your licence.
To many CCTV cameras about, not just in towns.
Also Dash cams which many of us forget about.
So i would say think about it first a bit more.

But the Yamaha MT10 is a quick bike as TIJ650 has said.

Agreed . I’d get a nice Street Triple R and rag the tits off it. Still crazy quick but more usable before you hit three figure speeds .

Get an old Ford Transit, a set of tyre warmers and a 600 track bike.

If a 1250GSA can't provide enough fun on-road for you, I doubt anything else will.

( I gave up riding Litre sportsbikes after my last run-in with a traffic patrol, I was too close to losing my license without even trying).

Aprillia Tuono may be worth a coat of looking at. Been around a long time now so there should be some reasonably priced examples out there. I haven’t had one, but I was in the Dolomites with a couple of Dutch guys who had them, and they were loving theirs. Very quick, rewarding in the bends and looked well built.

I have ridden them. Blisteringly quick and horrible around town.

What about a Streetfighter project?

Must be a cheap way to get what you are after and tailor it to fit you perfectly based on a salvage repairable ?

Probably enough change left over in your budget for full Ohlins, Akra pipes, Quickshifter or other trick/carbon stuff.

I've always fancied one myself, a few guys on the R1 forum really loved theirs with Renthal bars and a bigger rear sprocket for improved day to day comfort and fun.

Food for thought.....

Streetfighters are horrible things to get running right if you want a nice torque curve.

I’d be more inclined to look at a Monster 1200R than a Multistrada.
