Ok, so a few days ago I posted a message about buying a road King with my friend ash I got some advice- thank you.

Whilst I wait to find the right one I wa stinking of buying a cheeky fat boy I've seen. It means I can practice turning circles the size of Belgium and start to grow a beard and a predilection to leather wear before buying a road King.

So, same question .. And feel free to talk me out of it, but what do I look for in a 2021 fat boy ?

It could be something to do with your original post

Oh crap, sorry all. It should read a 2011 bike

The picture below I share as a mitigating factor to my shoddy typing

Solid Wheels on a Fatty are right....!! ..if you have the cash and the inclination buy it...

Solid wheels!

Now that look good. Is it yours ?

I haven't seen driving lights either side of the Headlamp on a fat boy before. Do you have Face on photo ?

Had a brand new one in 2014 which had to be recovered three times due to a faulty EGM unit near the rear wheel, which kept getting flooded.

Having said that, I really liked the bike.

No weather protection of course, so quite a bit of buffeting at speed.

Lots of heat from the exhaust.

Not keen on corners but always got round them.

I had solid wheels and no problem.

Tended to wash it far more often.

I had mine staged 1 and, apart from the sound, saw no real benefit.

Wish I'd kept it - it was more reliable than my bloody December 2014 GS

Fat Boy is a nice ride, not my style... I went with the Bob b/c of the stock forward controls and lack of floorboards. I also love the dual headlights. I don't think you'll find the 'saucer' solid wheels on many of them of from that year. And that's a good thing since the stock drilled mags handle much better and are much lighter. (Were spoked wheels on Dynas a EU/UK thing?)

On Dynas you want to look for spots where the previous owner modded the exhaust or fuel system and be really comfortable with that. 96 TCs are really sensitive about their breathing. Discolorations on the shields, etc.. will tell you if it ran lean and hot for any real period of time.

I also found the stock bar position ok for cruising, but wasn't a fan at highway speeds. Folks are notorious for putting raised bars on them, that pretty much ends the smooth handling, so be aware of that.

All that being said, I'm new to the GS, but I've done everything from tracking to riding fire roads on Dynas... you'll be hard pressed to find a blind spot in one.
