Fatal accident on North Wall Quay

More bad news

Sad news indeed.

One article I read online said it was a Polish lad on his way with some mates to Poland. The picture I saw with it was taken from the same side of the road where the bikes were parked and I reckon there were two 1150GSs line astern.

Sad to think that a family that was looking forward to having him home for a visit will now be preparing for a funeral instead.

RIP.

Came across the closed rd at roundabout Thai am about 10am. Very sad. JJH

In an article in the Journal, it was suggested they were heading East on the quay, the guy might have been overtaking and hit a truck head-on. Also suggested the sun might have blinded him.

I wonder why Garda accident reports are not published, there would be a lot to learn for sure. Are they available somewhere?

Hi Luke,
I don't want to know anything that can't be shared, please.
My own view is we could all learn from these accident investigations, if only they were published. Probably legal reasons involved.
I once came within an inch of rear-ending a car which was stopped at lights bottom of Fosters Avenue going South. I could not see the car due to glare from low sun and wet road. Swerved at last minute and whacke pannier off the car. Fright of my life.

Just how soon do you expect police details of a fatal accident?

I would expect it to be several days if not a week.

Three lads heading to ferry. One had a collision with the truck. You can see the position of the truck in the photo link above. Very sad.

Very sad indeed to see how many bikers have been killed in Ireland in the past weeks, especially when you see the car fatalities are going down.

Somehow, these threads just leave me cold.
Condolences etc but why bother post.FFS.
It just adds to speculation and other negative mudslinging shite.

The MAIN reason why I prefer this UKGSER forum to any other, including ADV is normal mundane deaths are not cried over or dwelt upon acccompanied with soulsearching heartwrenching billshite followed by the insincere rose of whatever. RIP to increase ones post count..
I couldn't give a shit about that brother duying under a bus or fucking donkey in south America. They mean nothing to me, I don't know them.
What's the point in posting.

Fucking crocodile tears i reckon,.

You are all heart. How could anyone be so callous? With shite like that being posted its a sure way to get increased post counts. Horrible post. JJH

It's a bike related incident, hence the discussion.
It's local, hence the discussion.
We feel grateful it's not one of us.
We may feel guilty for being grateful it's someone else.
It brings home to us that there are people unfortunately grieving.
We become conscious that we could be leaving people in that position.
Incidences such as this evoke emotions and, thankfully, therefore discussions.
We're human.
Of course there's no need to discuss this. There's no need to discuss most of what's discussed on here.

You don't have to enter into these discussions if you're emotionally unmoved by the death of a biker but, please, don't criticise those that do.

P.S. Normal mundane deaths are when people die of old age.
While, unfortunately, not uncommon, these deaths are not normal and very far from mundane.

He posted similar shite last year regarding the 2 Chilean riders who were killed in Clare. What a complete gobshite. Anyone else willing to contribute to a fund to get him a ticket to Syria ? Sounds like his kind of place. You won't feel cold there.
