Tragically we came across a bad accident in Kilkee this morning minutes after it happened. The lead Marshall of a charity run was riding a 1150 GSA. The accident has been reported online. Condolences to his wife and family.

Another one Taken Early! I never managed to tie up with him but admired his charity work and his endless Energy frequently Left me in Awe :rob

Absolutely Gob-Smacked that a Guy with his experience gone in a moments inattention by another!!

R.I.P. Aidan Lynam

03 May, 2015

Our race correspondent, some time road tester and big fan of all things BMW has left us. Earlier today Aidan Lynam lost his life in a road traffic accident doing what he loved most, riding his bike and raising money for Down Syndrome Ireland.

Revup4DSI was his idea, his passion for the organisation was an inspiration to those of us who were lucky to be involved in our own small way. This was the tenth year of Rev Up and Aidan was so proud of the fact that we, as motorcyclists, had donated so much money for such a good cause. By the end of last years event over €1.6 million had been raised.

All of us here at Bike Buyers Guide are simply heartbroken at the news. His contribution to the magazine is invaluable and we can’t imagine a race report landing in from a round of the Masters or one of the many road race meetings without his unique take on it.

He also wrote for Road Race Ireland, tweeted and posted on Facebook prolifically and contributed to some of the bike forums under the handle ‘Magnets’. The high regard with which he was held by the industry, media and motorcycling public was testament to Aidan’s character.

Our thoughts are with his family, Nikki his wife, his beautiful daughter Robyn and two boys, Jake and Harry and as well as his sister Yvonne. We will, of course, post the details of the arrangements as soon as they are available.

Go n-éirí an bóthar leat Aidan, Go raibh an ghaoth go brách ag do chúl, Go lonraí an ghrian go te ar d'aghaidh, Go dtite an bháisteach go mín ar do pháirceanna agus go mbuailimid le chéile arís, Go gcoinní Dia i mbos A láimhe thú.

Deepest condolences to his family and friends

I am just back from the "bring Aidan home" escort.
Sad but incredible, The Garda motorcycle guys were superb.
They actually stopped the M50 traffic Northbound.
I haven't seen anything like it since Joey.
