The dealer says the fuel pump flange/mount is green and manky and corrosion is in evidence. Its about 280quid for a new fuel pump assembly which is the flange/mount and the pump underneath. But there is about 88 quid for a fuel pump ECU that goes on top.
Can anybody identify with this problem? Maybe only the ECU needs changing? Maybe just cleaning and refitting all existing bits will do it?

Any advice will be appreciated.

What your dealer calls the ECU is in fact the Fuel Pump Controller. It switches the pump off when its up to pressure (and then on again as the engine uses a drop and the pressure falls)

It won't affect the fuel gauge.

Hi, bit confused with your post. Are you saying you took the bike to the dealer as the fuel gauge was not working correctly and they noticed the FPC was 'green' so suggested it needed replacing, or has the water reached the sender unit connection, rendering it u/s?

As Mark said the FPC wont affect the fuel gauge, it will however stop the bike from running!

Did you buy from a dealer or private? if its a 2009 model check to make sure its not still under warranty, they have a 2 year warranty. Also might be worth letting a dealer ask BMW for some goodwill as its around 2 years old?

I have an 07 RT. Its an ex police bike and i have noticed that as a precaution they (from new), cover the FPC and associated wiring in what looks like bathroom sealant, clearly to stop the water laying in there and causing the corrosion issues. It looks unsightly but it works!

Hope this helps and enjoy the bike, I love mine!!
