Hi all,

I've been riding my F650GS Twin for just over 3 years now...and 'collected' 87600Km on it.

At the beginning of this week I noticed that the 'Brake warning light' came on.
Stopping and re-doing a complete start routine got things going again...(for a while).

Yesterday the ABS power-on selftest went ok, with the warning light blinking before driving off. As I went on the road, the warning light went out...bussines as usual...for about 300m...then...'I saw the light'

My first idea was a faulty wheel sensor.

This morning the warning light stayed on altogether as I powered up the bike...
So, I was on the road without ABS...
It seems that a cold or hot engine has a slight influence on the problem. With a hot engine , the ABS selftest sometimes goes fine...

Now, I think something is wrong with the ABS unit itself.
Or it could be battery related.

Any idea on a DIY diagnostic tool?
Could there be a need for a ABS unit reset?

I could hop in at the local BMW bike garage too :D
(Every euro that I can save will go towards a new R1200GS in the end)

Aaaah....I passed by at the local BMW garage to let them drain all the datastuff out of the bike, and it didn't hurt at all.
They did a reset with no result. In the end they found out that the front sensor stopped doing it's job.
A new one will be ordered (''because this sensor brakedown thing never happened before, so we don't have it in stock'').
At least the ABS unit seems to be okay :clap

Quite funny that BMW shop people allways rise an eyebrow when I mention the kilometer reading...as if a F650GS wasn't made for distance...weird.

@Gert

I always get awkward replies by "BMW garage dude's" about the fact that I still have to use this bike for another 1,5 years to get to work. That will total about 110.000Km in 5 years (with about 15% private use on-top of it).

They give those faint hints about the F650GS not being made for that purpose...
- It being a 'starters' bike...
- "It's not really the Full Monty, you know...not top range"...
- "yeah...the engine can handle it , but..."
- "The CLUTCH will last!!!" (ooh...what a comfort ;-)
- Or just "Hhhhmmmmppphhh...eeeerrrrr"

Yeah Right!!!:thumb
