Has been on the the bike for about 20,000kms, always worked and never gave an ounce of trouble.
Some time last year, I put a sliver of plastic under mine which helped. But it's been acting up again so I've run the wires to a toggle switch on the bodywork by the wing deflectors.
The OEM switch is just not worth the hassle of fecking about with.

Bloody Bugger! Excuse my cursing!
Switch was working when I put it back together last night but this morning it seems as if the small bolt inside has dislodged itself....
I'll take it apart again this evening and try superglue on the bolt, failing that I'll go with your idea Younger!
Why bother there are three wires (supply, load and switch indicator bulb) on a long lead that goes to the electrical stuff under the petrol tank. I cit the lead and fitted a crumpled spade connector to each. The switch fits through the top of the beak between the winglet mounting holes. The old switch is still there taking up space but it's better than a bare hole.
If I really want to go back to an original switch, new ones come complete with new lead or just get out the soldering iron and heat shrink sleeves.
Hope you get it sorted because a flippin great non working switch is annoying but I got over it.
