If anyone has faulty Sony ear-bud headphones (low output / lack of hf response on one channel) then I have an easy, if not disgusting fix!

If you examine the culprit ear-bud closely, you will see that the audio comes from a tiny hole in the centre of the ear-bud.

This tiny little hole gets blocked with ear-wax and causes the problem.

A nasty way to resolve this (providing it's your ear-bud) is to suck sharply on it!

I guess you could dig about with a pin or some-such, but you are more likely to push the gunk inside.

Hope this helps someone.

Calling CDC-Atlanta.

Ingestion of community shared inspissated earwax; looks like we got us a whole new ***damned vector.

Hi there, are these ear bud good at keeping the external noise out? I am thinking of using them with a Garmin Quest but at the moment I must use ear plugs..Remus and wind noise being the main culprits..

The only other option is a custom fit ear phones....what do you think?

I find them much better than the hard in-ear earphones for noise reduction in normal non-bike use because you can wedge them firmly in your ears. However, when wearing a helmet for a while they tend to work loose and are not as good at reducing the noise and you loose some bass response.
However, that said, they are the best earphones that I have yet used on the bike.
