Favour to ask.

I'm nearly there in convincing the financial controller that a 2610 wil make our lives complete, and end all suffering in the world, but she did ask a rather annoying question, namely:

"Will it get us and the hire car to the villa in Spain this year?"

If only we'd booked a holiday in France eh?

Anyway, can a V7 user see if the following address is mapped yet?

The address of the villa is Puerto de Bejar, El Portet, Moraira. If the road isn't there, but there is detail in the general area that'd help my cause.

It's somewhere between Alicante and Valencia, and the driving instructions say to get off the motorway at J63 if that helps.

Many thanks!

Mark - in dire need of spending some money.

I can find Moraira and some fairly good detail but if you have the post-code it would help.

Sorry don't have the post code, and the people who I'm renting it off, are actually there at the moment, so won't be able to get the post code for a couple of weeks (although I have "texted" him).

Thanks though - it does look promising (fingers crossed). Could you e-mail me a screen shot of the place to markie underscore wales at hotmail dot com ?

cheers

Mark,

Sorry. I have V7 on my laptop (not connected to the interweb thingy!)

I reckon that if you can get the post-code it will take you right there. I have a Spanish Tourist Office booklet of all the campsites listed by address. V7 sometimes doesn't find the address especially if the property has a name as opposed to a number but V7 has found all the campsites by post-code.

Mike.

Actually chaps, I didn't think you could do "finds" via post code - has this changed recently, I seem to recall lots of threeads asking how to seacrh by post code. Or is Spain different?

Cheers (again)

Mark

Well I've just typed in Madrid and the postcode 28015. It finds Calle San Bernardo which is the address of the Spanish Camping Club.

It is not always so straight-forward. In more remote locations the street name is also needed.

It does work though!

So all these "why can't I find Fleet Street in London by post code only?" questions can "sometimes" be answered by "stick London in the town box as well" ?

Well that's pretty good - would sort me out for 99% of searchs I would need to do!

Said before and it'll be said agin - bloody amazing this forum!

Map

From V7 is as good as I can give you without a post code- Remember that Spain does not have the same quality mapping as the rest of Europe as quoted by Garmin due to cost of mapping charged by the Spaniards which they say is not commercial.

Moraira is at N38 42.455 E0 08.544

Great fish restaurants...

go to CALPE ( turn off the N332 down the ramp at N38 38.726 E0 02.039 and keep going down CV 746 to Playa Levante
N38 38.367 E0 04.344)

where there is a huge rock called "Penon de Ifach"

Near the beach you'll find some delicious fresh fish restaurants!
Enjoy !

You can also visit Albir and Altea La Vieja close by.
:D

I was in a similar situation to yourself a few months ago, but for me at least what finally made my mind up for me, was the fact that if for any reason I regreted my decision to buy one, that I could sell it on e-bay for close to the money I paid for it. Believe it or not, I have seen second hand GPS systems sell on e-bay for more than the cost of a new one. Just keep an eye on 2610 units being sold over the next week or so, and see for yourself.

Honestly, I have only 1 regret with the GPS I bought, and that was that I wish I'd bought one years ago. I certainly would not be without it now, and more importantly neither would my wife (who was against the idea initially). Some friendly pieces of advice for you though - if you do take the plunge, make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to familiarise yourself with it before "using it in anger" and always take a good map with you as backup. Like any machine, it takes practice to get the best out of it. Even after some months, I still find things I didn't know, but that's another thread.

Re your planned holiday. The coverage in Spain and Ireland is not fantastic. This screen shot was the best I could get. Mapsource did not recognise the given postcode (unless I'm doing something wrong) but it will find you Junction 63 and Moraira.
