Hi , Oil levell on the final drive ,
I know its to the bottom of the threads but is this free standing or on the centre stand.
There is a masive difference on the amount of oil depending which one you choose.

I've always done the centre stand and I don't think a dealer would do different. Just don't overfill as it will start appearing out of the breather with unwanted slippery results:augie

All oil levels.. engine, gear box and final drive should be checked with the bike on the main stand on level ground.

180ml in fd on 11/1150
:comfort
dont guess as top much is as bad as too little

err.. no. 230ml. If you're going to start quoting exact measurements.. at least get it right!

However that aside.. i'm not sure how its possible to overfill the FD. unless you're silly enough to do it with the bike pointing downhill.

It's easy as you fill to the top of the threads thinking you are "doing the right thing" and the oil appears out of the breather after a decent run. I have not done this but seen it and it didn't look pretty.

Also some other manufacturers say to top of threads which causes the confusion.

PS I don't "do" ml's as this is how a dealer overfilled my engine many years ago by about 1/2 litre! Just add to the correct level.
