Can anyone help please.

Conflicting amounts of oil in the FD in manuals and internet.

Is it 350ml for both G/S and ST.

Somewhere says 250ml for the ST?

I know I can check with the level hole but that bolt is already a little messy from the previous owner so would rather leave that be.

Cheers in advance

Thank you. Just trying to see if I can stop the brake actuator from weeping.

breather is clear. Has one piece bronze sleeve. Have replaced o rings and filled with 300 ml just to see if it stops and gets me through the summer.

Brake actuator will still leak when you are moving. There is a number of fixes but reduced oil isn't one of the good ones. Most popular is a stainless tube all the way through. You could try to replace the o-rings.

Is the stainless tube an easy fix or should I send it off to someone.

You’ve said earlier that you have the one piece tube, as you should have. So, providing it’s fitted correctly no oil can migrate from the FD past the tube to the actuator/ spindle.

He said earlier that he had a single brass bush.
If this is the case, the bush will need to be removed or pressed out,
And the other casing will need to be machined to accept the stainless tube.
This is best done with the unit stripped.

My 1983 ST had 2x brass bushes, now replaced by @mikeyboy via Overland and Classic with the solid tube available from Motorworks.

Just arrived back with me to be refitted this afternoon along with new brake shoes.
I've tried multiple o-ring sets previously.
Even reduced oil would not stop the persistent seap into the rear drum.
Hence this modification.
