because it thought it would be good, my piece of shite iphone has decided to cut all phone cals at a few seconds over 4 mins.

i have not changed anything.

i want to do a full iOS restore but as I dont have iOS 5.1 itunes insists i update first which i dont want to as i am hapy with 4.3 and its also jailbroken.

any ideas?

If you jail-break a phone, in my view, you get what you deserve.

Sounds harsh but it's true. The whole reason Apple control what goes on the phone is to give the customer the best experience they can. If you load your own operating system, you take the risk of your phone cutting off after 4 minutes.

Why not convert your bike to run on a wood fired steam engine. See how it goes!

+1 :thumb
I've screwed up my iPhone, how do I fix it?

damn and there i was thinking trippy was the biggest cnut and shite spewer on here, but you really do talk total and utter shite... the OS is still the same, i just run 1 or 2 programmes that have decided not to give a cut to apple.

The phone has been fine for well over a year and randomly decided to feck up so hardly a jailbreak problem.

Take into an Apple store then for them to take a look then...if its all bog standard with just a couple of stray apps! :blast

Hi, I also have an iPhone that will only allow a 4 minute conversation, not jail broken or running anything other than Apple approved software and apps.
As a side line it also occasionaly overheats towards the top half of the screen and flattens the battery in a few hours.
I keep it updated and it's connected to iTunes every day via my pc.

It's only 1.5 years old and in my opinion a conceptually great device just poorly made and represents bad value for money. How many of us would fork out €500 for an electronic device and accept trouble with it after such a short period of ownership. The phone has NEVER been dropped, got wet, or had any reason influenced by me to be such a pain in the arse.

Apple and their restrictive policies mean that my next phone will not be an Apple.

Bugger :eek

I'll have to check my phone out now - I can't remember ever making a call for longer than one minute anyway :blast

I'll now have to call a porn line just make alonger than 4 minute call to see if mine cuts out :D

I have a similar, albeit intermittent problem...longer calls get cut off and the iPhone reboots itself...the call goes dead, when I look at screen, there's the Apple logo: it seems to be doing a hard reset. There was a suggestion that all would be O.K. with the current version of the OS (no change): now I am just being told to reinstall OS (not optimistic). We'll see...no Jail Break, hardly an App installed, no music (I just make phone calls)...

Tried what was suggested to you and not worth a sh*te. All it did was waste my time and cause further frustration.

Maybe it's a safety feature to prevent you from microwaving your brain too much.....:nenau

My thoughts too.

What happens if you play music for 10 minutes through the speaker or use the speaker for a +4min phone call?

I've been in an Apple Store and seen them replace phones there and then over the counter for issues like these. Make sure you have a good back up by syncing in iTunes and take it to the shop.

SwissRob, for writing my opinions which weren't offensive and may have been incorrect in this case, I don't expect to be called names. Grow up fella. (or have I courted more childish abuse?)

Perhaps unjailbreak and see how you go and re-jailbreak later.

Thanks for the support for my previous post. I believe that you should follow the what the manufacturer advises. If you don't like it, get an Android phone. That's what they're designed for.

i didnt call you names, just said you were talking shite :D

you will need a thicker skin around here if that upsets you. :comfort or you can always just put me ignore, actually i prefer if you did :thumb

anyway back to topic, even with cydia etc removed and phone ios restored to the current 4.3 the phone does the same so absolutely nothing to do with the jailbreak - its just a shite product.

makes no difference if using headset, speaker , being held or sitting on a table etc.

replacement on the way.

Swiss Rob,

I might consider ignoring you if some of your other posts weren't so interesting.

That's what makes the nastiness so disappointing. Why is a thick skin needed? This makes the assumption that it's acceptable to be so unpleasant. There is no need.

It takes a whole load of effort to be unpleasant, and very little not to be. ;)
