Fed up of turbulence from screen

Any recommendations on how to reduce the turbulence from my screen?

I am 6ft tall, ride a standard GS adventure 2003 with the grey and red standard seat and standard screen.

I am getting a lot of turbulence so bad that it blurs my vision occasionally.
I wear an Arai Tour X helmet.

Heard some people say that a taller screen will help a lot? Is this the case? Or is impossible to reduce the buffeting?

Any help gratefully read.....:mmmm
I had the same with my GSA, took the standard screen off and chopped off 15 mm off the bottom , its tons better and reduced the buffeting no end, not perfect but cheap and with a little care almost unnoticable. it allows more airflow under the screen and reduces the vacuum

Or you can redrill two new holes on the Standard GSA screen so that it stands more upright. Worked for me

The rugged road approach looked good when I saw it on a 800.

Cut a hole in the middle of the screen. Lets enough air through to stop the buffeting.

I would definitely try a different helmet or remove the peak. I'm the same height as you, ride the same bike and don't have any trouble at all.

tobinators

yes to tobinators and I will have a set for sale soon as I take them off my bike !:augie
I've gone for an ermax screen now instead of the adventure screen and tobinators

6'2"
1150GSA
Standard seat
Adventure screen raised with Tobinators

I can easily clip along at 80km p/h with the flip on my Shoei Multitec fully raised and no sunglasses - no problem.

You need the tobinators - but remember that the trick of them is not to raise the screen an extra inch or two, but to remove the buffetting by allowing air to circulate between the lower lip of the screen and the 'dash' above the clocks.

More info on how they work and how to fit them here.... http://www.nippynormans.com/images/TOBINATORS R1150GS Adventure.pdf

I've an Aeroflow bought 2nd hand on my 11. 6'6" and with neck shoulder probs from spurts bikes. Can't do no screen for very long and added a bit to my medium Aeroflow for all day comfort. Horses for courses and no One Perfect way for all:augie

Mr. Michal asks “Any recommendations on how to reduce the turbulence from my screen?”

I have three.

No. 1 – slow down. I bet you are a clever bloke and have worked out that turbulence increases as you ride faster. Thing is slowing down might be likened to being offered a shag by Angelina Jolie and turning it down cause you would rather play with yourself. It’s an option but not an attractive one.

No. 2 – adopt a racing crouch. The little pixies in Moto GP get by with tiny screens because they ride with their chins pressed hard into the tank and their bums in the air. So what if you have to do 400 miles today – nobody said this was going to be easy.

No. 3 – if you insist on riding above 30 and won’t lie down ‘cause you didn’t throw the best part of a grand at a textile suit only to get it creased'….you must get a bigger screen - one that deflects the airflow over your head and around your body. Ultimately, it would extend far enough over and around to offer some impact protection as well………..…this would be called a car.

So there you have it – simple, minimal cost and totally practical. Next question please.
