Feed Back on HG Rally GTX & LC3 Clothing

I know that there are other threads about textile clothing but I am after feed back on the following two HG suits only.
Has anybody used them, faults, good bits, would you buy again?
Pro's & cons for Goretex and Sheltex. No need to respond on how good Goretex is but after info on Sheltex. Is it as good as Gore?

Sheltex is a cheap version of gore. It's only guaranteed waterproof for 2 years where gore is guaranteed for 5.

The rallye your can wear most of the seasons but is too hot for summer use, and the LC3 isn't waterproof, it's water resistant, which means anything more than a 5 minute shower and your soaked.

Just remember the rallye is only waterproof if you have the goretex liner in, no end of people have been caught out by leaving the liners at home

I've gone right off HG, I used to have every bit of my kit made by them except my helmet, but had so many warrenty returns in the last 3 years. I'm only my 4th jacket and my 2nd pair of trousers, all replaced because bad manufacturing and design. I now look at Halvarssons

I forgot to mention that I was looking at the clothing for all year use.

I am aware of not being waterproof without the lining (I currently use a Rallye 1 jacket in summer/autumn and have a goretex liner) but want to invest in another jacket/trouser due to the jacket shrinking

Went to a HG dealership this afternoon. Says that the Rallyes are OK for the summer but would need to have thermal inner i.e. windstopper underneath.
I also tried on the Cruise jacket but I feel that these sort of ones will be too hot for summer. Maybe I just need to resort back to have a summer and winter outfit.

AAMOI, the HG manager said that he has heard that the new Master V jacket that is due out will be Gore XCR based and will also have an in built heated jacket.

Only just had them but for me they are better than the BMW Rallye 1 suit I had.

Protection is better - I have put foam in the lower rear pocket to extent back protection. Other than this easy corrected failing i'd say they are deffo going to soften any fall better.

Pockets make more sense

I found the BM suit flapped in the wind and the armour could move out of place if a tumble happened. I made lots of alterations to the bm suit to make it fit snug etc. Couldn't have a smaller size else neck/shoulders would have been tight. The HG one has this thought out better for my shape anyway.

granted the bm suit has more vent zips but would you ride with them all open often?

I dont get that hot when moving, its when you stop and get off its a pain.

The HG has under arm vents but non on legs etc.

There both a bit over styled for me.


To be honest, I'd prefer no liners and less cost as it make much more sense to add a layer on top. Keeps you clean and can quickly be removed if the sun comes out.

I've had Rallye II suit and Master 4 suit.
I had the master 4 first.. Great for bad weather, fantastic in the rain, but ventilation non existant for very hot days.
Rallye is very good suit, Trousers are very good. Very comfortable and good fit and Pads seem to stay where they should.(Master 4 have a very baggy fit and keep falling down, and I doubt the pads would stay where they should in a fall)
Jacket is good. But still very hot on the 20degree plus days. Doesn't have very good ventilation ... Actually, it only really has the armpit vents which are good, but still very hot. (but does feel very safe.). It's a good compromise though.

From previous experience I wouldn't use non goretex. There are other breathable waterproof materilas but (from what I believe) Goretex demands their customers actually install they with correct seams etc. So the material may be the same, but it won't leak at all the seams and joins. Goretex isn't a magical material though... So if you're sweating it won't evaporate as quick as you're pumping it out of your skin, but at least it will eventually get dry on the inside.

I've got the RALLYE GTX II JACKET & TROUSERS, the first 'suit' I've bought and quite like it, very comfortable and apparently waterproof if you remember to put the goretex lining in. Cool enough in hot weather, haven't worn it in cold weather.
