If you are interested in aftermarket performance extra this may be of interest. If you're not it won't!
My 11GS has been running an aftermarket Remus for a while now and has had recent no cost service and maintainence work carried out by me to clean and set up the TB's/TPS/CO pot arrangement. It also has a K&N but obviously there is no proof that this does much for airflow
This work sorted out much of the "kangaroo" slow speed work and made the bike very well behaved on/off the throttle.
I had the "seat of the pants" feeling that it was running a little lean as the throttle was slight elastic at some revs (as many do) when needed to pick up quickly. Having previously had experience of a couple of aftermarket chips and understanding the principles/parameters which are quite simple I hunted eBay for anything interesting and came up with one in Germany on UK eBay and one in the US on eBaymotors.
The US one was only approx £25 posted so I gave it a punt. Obviously the 10-20bhp cliam in this ad was fantasy but the idea is the chip lengthens the duration of each injection and possibly changes the ignition advance.
I used to have a dyno set up Superchip (2001ish) with similar extra parts which was a good "freeing" tune without pulling down trees. The installer was also good at explaining things. Also I had a 2nd hand Laser can/chip on the present GS but that to me was too rich and used more fuel and lost torque "baulking" in the midrange sometimes and not feeling balanced.
As the US chip comes across a straight copy of someone elses chip then there shouldn't be too much variation and the seller said it wasn't too radical. Fitted it seems to give a good little boost to the throttle pick up and gives the bike good midrange balance making it less necessary to gear change. It seems pretty well balanced throughout the rev range and the bike now purrs along. This has had a good test in a 60 mile trip in pissing rain and gales on a windy road today
ABSOLUTELY NO CLAIMS to increased HP from me and IF YOU F'CK WITH YOUR ELECTRONICS you do so at your own risk!!
As anyone involved in electronics will know the actual chip is cheap and the dyno's and development is the big cash so that is why this guy is knocking them out for such a price. Also it took a while to arrive and came with no fitting instructions and the pins needed a little bending to get them to line up. SO OBVIOUSLY DON'T do anything you are not able to and carry the can for if it doesn't work. AND obviously all GS's tend to have variations caused by servicing/setup/mileage/riding style etc.
Also Kenny has a Motronic unit going cheap after his carb conversion which will be a good spare

As I said, one for those interested in messing and not for the standard brigade
