Morning all,

Picking up my GSA this week, trying to find a Fender Extender for it.

Seems most places I've looked only list them fitting up to 2019 bikes? Did the design of the front mudguard change after 2019 or are they all the same but most listing for the item have not been updated?

Thanks

Tony

The majority of the bodywork is the same as the earlier model, for the front fender extender I think the Machine Art Avant is the best. They're not cheap but are easy to fit without drilling holes in the mudguard. There are cheap Chinese versions of this item but you pay your money and take your chances so to speak...

No change, my MA fender extender from my 1200 GS fits just the same on my 1250 GS. The knock-off versions, or at least the one I put on my 1200 GS before sale, are not exactly the same - slightly narrower and shorter - but once on you'd not know the difference. (They seem to come with silver rather than black screws, so these need to be swaped for best effect). As always, if you do go down the ebay route, try find a seller with UK stock, or else wait for eternity for the slow boat.

Thanks for your help.

I had a genuine Machine Art one on my 1200 and have a Chinese replica on my 1250 and they are identical in all respects i.e. finish, thickness, fit and fittings :thumby: Having spent the past 16 years visiting China on QA audits and factory inspections for work, I’m convinced there’s a lot of genuine parts that are sold out of the back door at discounted prices, so you’re not necessarily buying an inferior product.

I have seen others say this. I've had both the MA and a knock-off version side by side and they were most certainly different in their dimensions, but not necessarily quality. So I must assume there are different versions out there. Or, it might not be obvious unless both are off the bike and compared. Either way, unless perhaps buying the MA extender as part of the mudsling kit, I'd probably plump for the non MA branded version.
