Fender Extender or Engine Protector?

In spite of the fact manufacturers have been making fenders smaller and smaller, people over here have actually been cutting fenders down, or in some cases taking them off all together! It makes zero sense to me but I guess it's a current style thing.

Yes it does.

Works a treat!
AltRider engine plate with quick release feature other makes do not offer and machine art fender extender. Nothing catching, nothing rubbing.

Just researching the same topic myself, quite keen of both extender and engine guard, think im being a numpty as I cant find the engine plate on the main site, any chance you have the link? Cheers Steve

every GS or GSA should have a mudslinger fitted as std by BMW ....it saves the shock form getting blasted with shite and your trousers,as the mud and rain comes out the side onto your legs..the rear mudsling stops this .....NNs are doing a double offer of mudsling and front extender at present
Slight divergence but isn't it the rear fender thing that slings the water back on your legs.

I ordered the fender extender and mudsling deal from NN with no issues. It arrived the following day. Just make sure they are in stock before you order.

The Machineart fender extender does a real good job and matches the BM mudguard finish.
+1 - never had a problem with NN. I added the Wunderlich crud catcher - not convinced it's worth it though.

Got both on my GS lc. The cymarc crud catcher still gets crap on it from the front wheel, despite having the fender extender, which would be on the engine otherwise. No clearance issues, 1 cm clearance between the two.

I have this plate as well, and it's a neat design. The ability to pop it off, without tools, is very handy when cleaning the bike.

As to those that have said the bike should have a fender extender as standard, which bikes have you seen with extended mudguards/ plates to protect the front of the engine? :nenau

Great thanks Nutty will be ordering that tonight, agree just makes a no brainier with this one being easy to remove/clean. Ordered the mudsling/f extender pack last night so combined should do the job - I noticed when cleaning my 17 GSA for the first time the engine was taking a pasting, paintwork isn't chipped off or right through as far as I can tell but rough finish already. Cheers
